Finding God in All Things

Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland (2007)

One of my favorite historical spiritual figures is St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus or Jesuits. Ignatius believed that at the core of our lives is the need for continual and increasing attention to God because he is found in every person we meet, in every place we visit, and in every circumstance we find ourselves. Lofty or lowly, God is there.

Travel makes tangible the spiritual practice of finding God in all things.
