The Four Freedoms: Freedom of Worship

Washington National Cathedral (2007)

Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) created a set of four paintings based on the theme of the “Four Freedoms” in Franklin Roosevelt’s State of the Union speech in 1943. The work, including Freedom of Worship, became illustrations in The Saturday Evening Post and were soon used as posters to sell war bonds.

My take on the theme is a photo taken on Christmas Day at Washington National Cathedral. Stained glass windows color interior stone column, suggesting strength and richness found in the freedom of worship.
