We never despair
‘Cause we know that where there’s danger
He is there!
He is there! On the land! On the sea! In the air!
We’re not worryin’ at all
We’re just listenin’ for his call:
“Here I come to save the day!”
That means that Mighty Mouse is on the way!
I’ve needed God to be like Might Mouse when situations were beyond my abilities to handle. There have been many, but most are from a lack of energy, lack of health or lack of financial resources.
Mighty Mouse Moments
Many years ago after a long time with sufficient income, I was to be evicted. I’d done what I could to get more work and search for community resources to help with the emergency. Nonetheless, a progression unfolded and eventually a court date was set.
The day before the matter was to be heard, a proposal I made to a prospective client was accepted without question and the initial payment made with the funds showing up in my bank account the morning of the court date. The matter was resolved immediately and the case cancelled. Just in the nick of time. The day was saved.
This is on the urgent end of the needs-intervention spectrum. I didn’t start out having to face this type of situation.
The first experience of God’s intervention into my financial life was during my last semester in college. It was Easter Sunday and I was unable to go to an extended family get together.
Food service options around campus were limited and I didn’t have enough money for a proper meal at a restaurant. However, there was enough money in my purse for a cup of coffee so I went to a favorite restaurant to have a celebratory coffee.
By the time I got there, most Easter diners were gone. The parking lot was nearly empty. Swinging my legs to the ground after opening the car door, I looked down and discovered a 50-dollar bill folded in half at the edge of my left shoe. There on the pavement on a windy April day was provision for a festive Easter meal … and then some.
Keep your eyes open! You never know from where your help will show up. Be confident that it will! Oh, yes, it will!
